This is one of the cookies I tested in my comparison of 10 cookies, I found the recipe from ElisabethBH at AllRecipe. Turns out it was not her recipe and she did not quote the source.

The NY Times cookie found on this site was better IMO and so was The David Lebovitz cookie (The True Blue CC cookie).

These are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever made! I became a stay-at-home-mom 10 years ago and one of the things I missed working were the choc. chip cookies a coworker use to bring for us. She never shared her recipe, not for lack of trying on our part. I have to tell you, when I tasted your recipe cookies, it was like tasting hers. I called my friend that use to work with me and shared your recipe. We are overjoyed! Thank you from Michigan! Thank you for sharing!

I can't wait to try this recipe!! Cookies look fantastic. I'm always on the hunt for a great chocolate chip cookie recipe. And this cookie meets all of my criteria: chewy, thick, and crispy-edged. Great job!

Me too, they are quite easy to make! No waiting on butter to soften, and no chilling necessary! (Plus I can use my scale).
I enjoy your site!

If you link to Brown Eyed Baker, she has pics of the process... I baked mine in batches, some in the a.m. and some last night. The ones I did in the morning I completely forgot about the twisting thing... and like you, mine turned out fine. The pics I have now added show the results done as the directions state. Thank you for visiting!

My son & I made these this morning after he was begging me to make "chocolate cookies." We used dark brown sugar and dark chocolate chips. I didn't clearly understand the directions about splitting the ball and turning 90 degrees so I just plopped large spoonfuls of dough and they turned out fine. After baking 2 sheets of cookies, we mixed in some chopped walnuts in the remaining dough (for daddy). They all turned out super yummy!
